Raymond Chandler - Farewell, My Lovely
New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1940. First edition. Ex-libris (U. S. Navy Bureau of Navigation: U. S. S. San Francisco) with usual markings. Hardcover. 8vo. Brown boards with black lettering and design. Missing portion of the outer spine but binding is still in-tact. Publisher's top-stain. 275pp. Poor condition. Minor separation of the text-block from the spine. The spine is very slightly rolled. Creasing, toning, scratching, smudging, and discoloration to the outer/inner boards, end-papers, pages of the text, and the text-block edge. The dust jacket is a FACSIMILE and is in poor condition.
The book was part of the library of the U.S.S. San Francisco which was a submarine that collided with an undersea mountain. The book is in fear poor condition...but the story and the neat-o facsimile jacket will surely impress your friends and more than make up for its flaws. How would you expect the book to look, huh?
