Grove Press, 1961. 8vo. 318 pp. Hardcover. First American trade edition, third printing (first published 1934 by Obelisk Press in France). Very good condition. Light wear along textblock fore-edge; very clean boards and pages. Dust jacket is a bit rubbed along spine tips, forecorners; has two small closed tears (4mm or so--see photos). Tropic of Cancer was banned in the United States from 1934 until 1961 at which time the Supreme Court ruled that the book's literary merit elevated it past mere obscenity.
