Former owner's name and address on front free endpaper in ink. Smudging along upper textblock edge. Dust jacket is chipped along spine tips and lower forecorners, scuffing along upper edge; Smudging, rubbing along joints and foreedge (see photo). Condition of both is good. This is the unexpurgated first edition--substantial revisions to the (allegedly insensitive) story were made shortly thereafter, in which form the book has been published ever since. Basis for the celebrated film adaption Willy Wonka with Gene Wilder. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is indisputably among the most cherished and collectible children's books of the twentieth century.
