Houghton Mifflin, 1948. Hardcover. 8vo. 1060 pp. Book-of-the-Month club edition. Good condition. Ink squiggle (remainder mark, I guess) on upper textblock edge along headband. Former owner's name in inkpen on top of front pastedown endpaper. No other markings. Light scuffing to cloth boards at forecorners. Price-clipped--or should I say "Price-clipped"--dust jacket is likewise in good condition with chipping along spine tips, and forecorners (see photo). This is an epic novel indeed, equal parts Ulysses, Lord of the Rings, and Gone with the Wind. A forgettable movie adaptation with Elizabeth Taylor was made in 1957.
