Meyer Levin - Compulsion
Simon and Schuster, 1956. Hardcover. 8vo. 494 pp. 1/4 red cloth, 3/4 black paper binding. Red topstain. First edition, second printing. Very good condition. Faint toning cast to pastedown pages at hinges. No other markings. Dust jacket is very good, chipped a bit along upper edge at upper tip of spine, front flap upper forecorner; several very small (1mm) erosive rubbing marks at front joint, lower front forecorner (see photos). Compulsion is a novelization of the real-life murder of little Bobby Frank by supercilious siblings Leopold and Loeb as well as the subsequent trial, which process, Levin hopes, will explain the strange and senseless killing.
