Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. - Player Piano
New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1952. First edition, first printing. Hardcover. 8vo. Green buckram binding. 295 pp. Unprepossessing ex-library copy decked out in a new waterproof buckram case; in fact, this book looks so handsome sin vestimenta, it would be a crime to hide it under a dust jacket, which is a good thing since this book doesn't have one (sorry!) Other library upgrades include stamps on half-title page and rear flyleaf as well as the plot precis--excised from the dust jacket flap--affixed to the foreword verso (so I guess there is technically some dust jacket after all). Front free endpaper clipped off at gutter (none of that Dewey Decimal razzmatazz to ruin your day). Additional wear, smudging is evident along textblock edges and the boards have a few dings along the upper edge. A roughscrabble copy, it must be admitted, but it's neverthelesss a first edition of Vonnegut's very first book and that is something you don't see everyday.
