New York/London: Harper & Brothers Publishers, 1903. First edition thus. 8vo. Hardcover. Brown boards with gold lettering. 8vo. No dust jacket. Illustrated. 372pp. Fair condition. Binding is rolled with minor separation of the text-block from the spine. Gilt upper edge of text-block has been almost entirely rubbed away. Two previous owner inscriptions are written in black pen on the front endpaper (see photos). Fragile inner hinges. Creasing, toning, scratching, tearing, and areas of discoloration to inner boards, endpaper, text-block edge, and the pages of the text. Outer boards show rubbing to faces and edgewear. Rubbing to hinges and upper/lower spine.
