New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1965. First edition. Hardcover. 8vo. 356 pp. Black cloth binding with gilt lettering. Red topstain. Very good condition. The former owner's name is written in ink on the front pastedown page but otherwise this book is spotless inside. The dust jacket too has a singular flaw, this time a small tear at the head of its spine (less than 1cm--see photos) which we don't mind because, after all, perfection is obnoxious, a quality this specimen would otherwise exemplify. The letters collected here were written between the years of 1931 and 1946, a period which saw the climax (pun a little bit intended) of Henry Miller's creative output.
