Wear to the perimeter of the outer boards. Previous owner inscription (in black ink) to the front endpaper. Annotations (in pencil) to the upper left-hand corner of the rear, inner board. Creasing, toning, scratching, rubbing, smudging, chipping, and areas of discoloration to the outer/inner boards, endpapers, pages of the text, and the text-block edge. Slight (tobacco?) scent to the book. Pen markings to the table of contents page (see photos).
