Red cloth binding with gilt titular lettering. 753 pp. This copy evinces every first issue point (author's preface on copyright page, page number resembling an 'o' on p. 9, 'refrred' on p. 321, 'G.W.' on p. 381, and 'Domininque' on p. 480) but is lacking 'first edition' statement on copyright page. Good condition. Covers are rubbed along periphery, joints; there is a small irregular pink blemish near upper front forecorner (see photos). Very minor general wear evident along textblock edges. No markings. Original dust jacket (showing price of 3.00$ but having the second issue single-column format on the back) is chipped at forecorners and spine tips, has a small closed tear along upper edge and some rubbing to joints, but nevertheless still quite impressive.
